Happy middle June, everyone! This coming weekend has a lot going on. With Saturday being Juneteenth and Sunday being both the official first day of summer and Father’s Day, there is a lot of fun to be had in and around Sussex County, Delaware. I know for myself I have been trying to find new things to do to take my family and I out of the house and to shake up the normal routine. Here are just a few things that you can go check out.

In Milton, the Horseshoe Crab and Shorebird Festival date of May 29th was canceled that day due to inclement weather but no worries! If that weekend didn’t work for you, you can try to catch it this coming weekend on its new scheduled date of June 19th. The fun begins at 9 AM and goes until 3 PM with musical entertainment, crafts, environmental exhibits, and so much more. There is even an opportunity to watch the documentary “A Meeting of Migrations” created by 302 Stories. In Georgetown on Saturday, June 19th come to the Richard Allen School and join in in the Juneteenth celebration. This event starts at 11 AM and you can expect to find entertainment, food, vendors, and historical information regarding this important day in history.
